Tuesday, February 2nd - Still Lives

Lisa joked that her title sounded like a terrible, still life portrait (I’m not sure about that, but I like it either way!), and her comment reminded me of the way I was feeling about waiting for the bus to take me to work for 700th time (portrait of a terribly still life). But of course those are just protestations from my surly morning self wishing she were still in her warm bed, dreaming about the world in reverse.

And, on the topic of worlds in reverse, a slight aside: Jim Carrey was named as a knight in France’s National Order of Arts and Letters yesterday. Doesn’t that seem weird?

I've posted two photos, as I missed yesterday and also couldn't decide between the two. With me you get all or nothing at all, haha.

The first photo was taken while I was parked outside of Malorie's house, on University Avenue. I want to live on this street. I am happy on this street.



The second is of Malorie and I's mac computers at the Sugarbowl, our favourite "workplace". Today, I played the role of a University of AB student. I always feel like such a con artist when I am there. Do you know the feeling? Especially when you run into people who were your classmates just the year before. I grabbed a coffee from my favourite Italian place in Hub and after a short walk I ran into a Philosophy major who was in my Cultural Studies class last year. It made me want to be a student again. I love having conversations with interesting almost strangers about interesting things without having to book a coffee date in advance.
